Privacy Notice
Last updated September 16, 2026
Zitan Law (“Zitan Law”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information the training and assessment portal (the “Portal”) collects, why, and your choices. It is written to meet Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and substantially similar provincial laws, and to address United States state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
1. What we collect
- Participant details you enter: first and last name, email address, and optionally employer and employee ID.
- Access details: the company name and access code used to open a restricted training.
- Assessment records: your score, pass or fail result, certificate number and the date and time of the attempt.
- Staff accounts: for Zitan Law administrators, an email address and authentication data.
- Technical data needed to operate and secure the Portal, and a browser session marker recording that you finished a training video.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
2. Why we use it
To deliver the training, verify access entitlements, score your assessment, issue and verify certificates, email you a copy of your certificate, maintain training records for the sponsoring employer, and protect the Portal against misuse. Where the law requires consent, we rely on the consent you give when you submit your details.
3. Who we share it with
- Your employer or sponsoring organization, which receives completion and score records for the training it paid for.
- Service providers that host the Portal, its database and its email delivery, acting on our instructions under contract.
- Authorities where disclosure is required by law or to establish or defend a legal claim.
4. Where information is stored
Information is stored on servers operated by our hosting providers, which may be located in Canada, the United States or other countries. Information stored in another country may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that country.
5. How long we keep it
Assessment and certificate records are retained for as long as needed to evidence training compliance — normally seven years — and then deleted or anonymized. Staff account data is kept while the account is active.
6. Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to receive a copy of it, to withdraw consent, or to tell you what we have collected and disclosed. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them; Canadian residents have equivalent rights under PIPEDA and provincial law, including the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Some records must be kept to evidence training compliance, and we will tell you if an exception applies to your request.
7. Security
Access is protected by encrypted connections, access codes with expiry dates, and role-based restrictions so that only authorized Zitan Law administrators can view results. No system is perfectly secure; please do not send sensitive information through the Portal that is not requested.
8. Children
The Portal is intended for workplace training and is not directed to children under 16.
